Lt. Cambier escaped from a hospital train on 25 September together with Lt. Bussell, 3rd Para Bat. Both were assisted by the Dutch Resistance and were taken to the Zutphen area. They were arrested at the beginning of October while dressed as civilians and were shot by Ludwig Heinemann of the Gestapo in the HQ, 't Selsam House at Vorden. Heinemann was arrested on March 18th 1946. After the trial in which he was found guilty of many war crimes including the murder of at least 70 people, he was executed at Arnhem on the 10th of february 1947.
