Pte. Benjamin Bliss was killed in front of a few houses on the Marktstraat, just west of the road bridge. He went out into the open street with a fellow orderly (Desmond Davies) and a stretcher to attempt to help a wounded German soldier who lay in the street. He was shot and killed before he could reach the wounded man.
