Staff Serjeant Peter Burke Hill was first Pilot of the large type Hamilcar Glider, loaded with two Bren Carrier vehicles. He made a succesfull and safe landing in Wolfheze on the 17th of September. Hill could not swim and when his boat was hit and capsized during the crossover, he drawned during operation Berlin (withdrawal to the southside of the river Rhine) in the night of 25 September. His body was found in the river Lek near Ravenswaaij on 18 November.
