Pte. Grumoli tried to swim over the river during the evacuation, he did not make it. His body was recovered from the river Lek on 16 November 1944. He was buried at the General Cemetery at Lopik. He was identified in 1948 and later reburied on the Canadian War Cemetery at Bergen op Zoom. Grumoli was a talented cartoonist, some of his drawings can be seen in the additional picture. | |
