At 1650 hours 15 Typhoons of 124 wing / 181 Squadron took off from B.58 Melsbroek airfield to attack 'MET' (Military Enemy Transport) at map reference E.5633, a wood between the villages of Gemert and Veghel. 120 rocket projectiles were fired and at least 15 'MET' were reported destroyed. Typhoon MN241 was hit by Flak near the village of Erp and crashed at about 18.00 hrs. Regrettably Pilot Officer Shearburn was killed in the crash.
